Yang Liu (刘洋) is a law graduate of Macau University of Science and Technology (Macao, China), and obtained her Master of Laws degree from Osgoode Hall Law School (Toronto, Canada). Yang has been working at Jones & Co. since 2021 and became an articling student in February 2022.

Yang's practice is focused on international intellectual property protection, especially in the field of trademark, copyright, and industrial design (design patent) protection in China. Yang is part of the team that helps international clients with strategic planning for trademark and copyright filings and prosecutions to achieve the best possible protection for the brand. She has assisted in managing the Chinese IP portfolios and coordinates trademark and copyright prosecution in China and Southeast Asia, including opposition proceedings, appeals, invalidation, and non-use cancellation proceedings.

Yang has experience in assisting international clients in preparing for litigation in China and also has experience in collecting and evaluating evidence for intellectual property litigation. She helps clients with understanding the requirements of China's civil procedure laws and dealing with formality requirements such as the legalization of documentary evidence.

Yang is also experienced in conducting IP infringement searches online on various platforms including Taobao, Alibaba, T-Mall, 1688, JD.com, Douyin, and accumulated skills in identifying infringers and counterfeit products in the Chinese online marketplace.

Yang is familiar with both common law and civil law systems and jurisprudence. She is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English.
