Types of Personal Information Collected
Other than the information that we collect to facilitate payment, Jones & Co. collects and uses contact information and information about preferences with respect to our legal services or interests so that we may provide individuals with news and updates that most interest them. Disclosure to Related Organizations
Generally we do not disclose personal information to third parties without the consent of the individual. However there are exceptions:
1. From time to time we use third party sub-contractors to provide certain services, such as our IT services provider. While your personal information is disclosed to such parties, they are required to comply with our privacy policy and not use or retain your personal information for their own purposes.
2. If Jones & Co. in whole or in part, merges with another law firm, your personal information will be transferred to the new law firm along with the rest of the assets, provided that the new law firm either agrees to abide by the then existing Privacy Policy of Jones & Co., or agrees to notify you forthwith about any proposed changes to the privacy policy and allows you an opportunity to request that your personal information be deleted.
3. We will disclose your personal information without your consent as required by law or permitted by Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act. For further information on these exceptions please visit this web site: www.privcom.gc.ca.
Changes to Our Policies
Nothing lasts forever, and we anticipate that at some time in the future it may be necessary to make changes to our Privacy Policy. If in our opinion acting reasonably such changes will allow us to make materially greater use or disclosure of your personal information, we will notify all active clients and contacts of the changes. Such clients and contacts will then have an opportunity to withdraw their consent to the collection, use or disclosure of their personal information.
