Chunlin Nan (南春霖) is a law graduate of Nankai University (Tianjin, China), and has two Master of Laws degrees from Osgoode Hall Law School (Toronto, Canada). She has also studied Japanese law at Rikkyo University in Japan. Chunlin is a Korean-Chinese and fluent in both Chinese and Korean. Chunlin has been working at Jones & Co. since 2017 and is an articling student starting from December 2021.

Chunlin’s main practice is focused on protection of intellectual property in China, including trademarks, copyright, and industrial designs (design patents). Chunlin helps international clients with strategic planning for the trademark and copyright filings and prosecutions to achieve the best possible protection for the brand. She has assisted in managing the Chinese IP portfolios and coordinates trademark, copyright and industrial design patents prosecution in China, Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia, including oppositions proceedings, appeals, invalidation, and non-use cancellation proceedings.

Chunlin is also experienced in conducting take-downs and fighting IP infringement online (Taobao, Alibaba, T-Mall, 1688, JD.com). Chunlin has also cumulated the skills in identifying infringers and counterfeit products in Chinese and South Korean online marketplace and conducting test purchases of counterfeiting goods to obtain evidence.

Chunlin has experience in intellectual property disputes in China. She Is part of the team that assists international clients with developing a strategy for litigation in China, and preparation for litigation in Chinese courts. Chunlin has experience in collecting and evaluating evidence for intellectual property litigation in China. She helps clients with understanding the requirements of the China’s civil procedure laws and dealing with formality requirements such as legalization of documentary evidence.

Chunlin is familiar with both common law and civil law systems and jurisprudence. She is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, Korean, English, and Japanese.
