Katya is an international business lawyer experienced in both civil law and common law systems. Katya's experience includes advising private and public companies representing a variety of industries, governments, individual clients and research institutions. Katya's practice is focused on franchising law, intellectual property licensing, and corporate commercial law.

In Franchising matters, Katya regularly advises franchisors on expanding their systems to Canada and abroad, in particular China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macau and Malaysia.

In Technology Transfer matters, Katya drafts and negotiates intellectual property licensing agreements for academic and industry clients. Katya's expertise in drafting enforceable license agreements for use in China is in particular demand among our clients.

As a part of her Corporate Commercial practice, Katya advises clients on a variety of Canadian corporate commercial matters, including privacy issues, Canadian Anti-Spam Law, incorporations, shareholder agreements, extra-provincial registrations and corporate governance.

Katya holds a master's degree in International Business Law from Osgoode Hall Law School, and has attended University of Alberta Faculty of Law and Moscow State University Faculty of Law. Prior to joining Jones & Co., Katya articled at Ontario Ministry of Economic Development and Ministry of Energy, and practiced corporate law and mergers and acquisitions with Moscow offices of major international law firms.

Katya speaks English and Russian.
